offers participating artists for Sharjah Biennial 14: Leaving the Echo Chamber (SB14), opening in March 2019.
Nkanga who showed at the 2013 edition of the biennial, has her work listed as part of a curator's project for the next year's event. Three curators are showing different group of artists each.
The 14th Sharjah Biennial, according to the list will feature three distinct exhibitions by curators Zoe Butt, Omar Kholeif and Claire Tancons. The gathering brings together a range of experiences and works – including major commissions, large-scale public installations, performances and films – to explore how contemporary life, enabled by rapid technological change, has created a seemingly inescapable ‘echo chamber’ of information, complex personal networks and shifting narratives that are physical, spiritual and virtual.
Zoe Butt’s exhibition Journey Beyond The Arrow will include works by artists Khadim Ali, Meiro Koizumi, Nalini Malani, Tuan Andrew Nguyen, Ho Tzu Nyen, Ahmad Fuad Osman, Lisa Reihana and Kidlat Tahimik.
Omar Kholeif’s Making New Time will include works by Huguette Caland, Lubaina Himid, Barbara Kasten, Marwan, Otobong Nkanga, Jon Rafman and Akram Zaatari.
Claire Tancons’ Look for Me All Around You will include works by Caline Aoun, Aline Baiana, Nikolaus Gansterer, Eisa Jocson, Isabel Lewis, Ulrik López, Carlos Martiel and Wu Tsang.
