Beginning from the 2014 edition, the increasingly popular literary award, Wole Soyinka Prize for Literature in Africa will “rotate the genres” each year, and most likely, increase the monetary worth of the prize.
The organisers, Lumina Foundation has made this
known in Lagos, noting that since the award commenced four editions ago, it was
logical to acknowledge that the Nobel Laureate’s writing cuts across the genres
of prose, essay drama and poetry.
From 2014, “entries will be on a genre for each
edition” and the prize money could be reviewed upwardly, the organisers
assured.
