Akon |
Just
a week after the Senegalese-born R&B star, Akon got into the controversy
of polygamous advice for Americans, he is currently embroiled in a row over the
issue of suitability of dark-skinned models for a musical video involving him
and a Nigerian star, WixKid (real name Ayodeji Ibrahim
Balogun).
According
to local reports from Ghana, models in the country chosen by agencies to
feature in Akon and WizKid video have been rejected by
the two artistes “because the girls are too dark skinned for the taste of the
production crew”.
While the side of Akon and WizKid to
the story remains conspicuously missing, it sounds ridiculous that in the age
of digital imaging, filmmaking or video technology cannot take care of such
challenges like models’ skin pigmentation. C’mon Ghanaian video crew and
rumour-mongers! Sudan-born model, Alek Wek and her photographers must not hear
this!
