Mabel Segun (1930-2025)

Mabel Segun.

THE family of literary icon, Mabel Segun, has announced the death of the author.

 "It is with gratitude to God for a life well spent in the pursuit of excellence in Literature, Broadcasting and Sports that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Mabel Dorothy Okanima Segun (nee Aig-Imoukhuede) in the early hours of the 6th of March 2025. She was 95 years old. Funeral arrangements will be published in due course."

 Two weeks ahead of her death, she was celebrated with 95th birthday gift, which had admirers, writers and family members in attendance. A major highlight of the event held at J.K Randle Centre for Yoruba Culture and History, Onikan, Lagos, was a gathering themed The Multifaceted Artistry of Mrs Mabel Segun. Present,among others were Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka, Professor Niyi Osundare, Dr Bummi Oyinsan and Dr Wale Okediran.
