Prince Claus loses son who refused to be king

Remember The Netherlands-based Prince Claus Award? Yes, it’s the Dutch Royal Family’s contribution to excellence in creativity, of which professionals across the world have benefited.

However, sad news took over the air yesterday for the family and admirers as the second son of the founder of the award, Johan Friso, died yesterday. He was aged 44.

Some of the Nigerian beneficiaries of the Price Claus Award are photographer, Uche James Iroha, Toyin Akinosho and Jahman Anikulapo-led Committee for Relevant Arts {CORA} and University of Nigeria, Nsukka-based Ghanaian-born artist, El-Anatsui.

Friso, who had been reported to have refused to succeed his father Prince Claus slipped into a coma after a skiing accident in Austria, last year February.
