OLUWAYEMISI Abejide Akingbola, Korede Aremo, Ella Ojadi, Merit Blessing, Onesa Oruoghor, and Obiwuru Esther create artistic 'chorus' with a series of gathering, exclusive for female artists.
Themed The Swans, the 2025 edition opens May 17, ending 24, 2025 at Signature Beyond Art Gallery, 107, Awolowo Road Ikoyi Lagos. The exhibition series debuted last year with artists Useh Akpoghene Caroline, Amaghiro Chiamaka Lilian, Balikisu Audu, Eberechukwu Lucia Okoro, Elizabeth Chioma Ekpetorson and Faith Michael.
In its statement, Signature Beyond said the gallery is committed to presenting exhibitions that reflect the diverse, evolving, and impactful narratives shaping contemporary art. "The Swans Exhibition stands as a bold affirmation of this commitment — a celebration of the creative force and nuanced perspectives that women bring to the art world," Signature Beyond stated. "This all-female exhibition is more than a curated collection; it is a conversation — between materials and meaning, tradition and innovation, individuality and shared experience."
Excerpts from Signature Beyond's Gallery Statement: "Featuring artists working across painting, sculpture, mixed media, and textile-based forms, The Swans Exhibition explores themes of identity, memory, resilience, nature, and emotional depth with both intimacy and power.
"The name “Swans” evokes grace, strength, transformation, and quiet force — qualities embodied in the works of these extraordinary artists. Their practices are rooted in personal narratives yet extend outward, resonating with broader cultural and social realities.
