Victor Olaiya, late actress, Moji's father dies at 89

Victor Olaiya, (1930-2020). 
Nearly three years after his daughter passed on, Veteran highlife singer Victor Olaiya died today, Wednesday February 12, 2020, aged 89, at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH).
Moji Olaiya, his actress daughter died May 17, 2017 at the age of 42.

The highlife legend's death, according to reports, was confirmed by Michael Odiong of Premiere Music, the record label of his music.

Odion disclosed that Olaiya, more famous for his 'Baby Jowo Mai Lo' hit song died at about noon on Wednesday.

Olaiya was born on the  December 31, 1930 in Calabar, Cross River State but of Ijesha-Ishu, Ekiti State descent. The Olaiya family is well known in Lagos.

Olaiya formed his band, the Cool Cats in 1954 but later renamed it the All-Star.
Among his hit tracks are Omopupa, Aigana, Pambotoriboto, Opataritius, Mo fe Muyan, Jemila, Kosowo l’ode, Odale Ore, So fun mi and Omolanke.

In 2013, Olaiya featured  Tubaba (Innocent Idibia) in the remix of Baby Jowo.
