Tomorrow, July 4, 2016, Duke Asidere’s work Mental Space opens to the public, showing till September 15, 2016, at the Wheatbaker , Ikoyi, Lagos.
Showcasing
38 paintings on paper and canvas, some of the works, according to Curator,
Sandra Mbanefo Obiago, reveal an uninhibited intellectual reflecting on
critical issues in society; his art celebrates the best of humanity, while
teasing and warning with unapologetic dexterity.
"Mental Space is Asidere’s external response
to an internal, multi-layered landscape of deep thought, questions, and
critique,” explains Obiago, the exhibition curator. “Through his drawings he challenges
us to reflect on a constantly changing political context, in which he
highlights the crazy and controversial excesses in our lives with bold, often
humorous poignancy.”
