Whenever a list of iconic photographs in the
history of Nigerian, and indeed African sports is being compiled, late Super
Eagles striker, Rashidi Yekini would be celebrated.

The photograph, taken of Yekini, after
he celebrated his goal, and indeed, Nigeria’s first ever FIFA World Cup goal during the USA 1994 event, is, perhaps, the most memorable sport picture in Africa.
Whoever was that photographer that took this great picture of one of
Africa’s most potent strikers deserves a FIFA Award.
Yekini passed away aged, 48, on Friday, May 4, 2012, in Ibadan, Oyo
State, Nigeria.
