THE Guinness World Record has announced Fola David as current holder of the largest drawing. The artist, who is also a medical doctor shared his joy on social media, Monday, November 2024.
"Thank you to everyone who made this possible," David wrote displaying the Guinness World Record certificate. "I'l tell more on this story of a 9 year journey later on. For now… we made it. Let’s Celebrate."
The inscription on the certificate confirms that "The largest drawing by an individual" at over 1.004.7m (108014.5ft) "was achieved by Fola David Tolaram (Nigeria) in Lagos, on 21 of July, 2024." David's drawing surpassed the previous record of 629.98 square meters held by Ravi Soni from India. According to GWR, Mr Soni set the record on 30 November 2021 at Maharana Bhupal Stadium, India.
David described his massive drawing as “Unity in Diversity” showing two giant hands holding Nigeria’s map, also showcasing the country’s cultural heritage. "Our diversity should be seen as something that unites us, as something that strengthens us, rather than something that should create that divide between us,” David said after completing his work on in July.
