At Omolayo Gallery's 19th Creative Workshop, under-10, teenagers show art, poetry, music

Visitors and participants at the art exhibition segment of Omolayo Gallery's 9th Creative Workshop, in Lagos... recently.

THE Young At Art Children and Teenagers Creative Workshop founded in 2003 by Biodun Omolayo as a flagship program of Omolayo Gallery held its 19th edition to the admiration of the general public. Held on Saturday, September 3, 2022 at City Mall, Onikan, Lagos, the event's participants included school children from across private and public schools in Lagos.

The workshop was designed to boost the creative potential of children and young adults, using the Visual Arts, the Performing Arts and the Literary Arts.

Ever since its inception to date, the Workshop has been running consistently with improvements in its contents, and structures.

The focus of this 19th edition is "LEADERSHIP". The children have projected this theme of leadership all through their creative activities in the 8-Week Workshop under the tutelage of different professional Facilitators which included Biodun Omolayo (the Founder), Queen Felix (Curator of Omolayo Gallery), 

"Ms. Peace Michael (Facilitator Creative Writing), Kola Oyefeso (Facilitator Music & Musical Instruments), Bassey Daniel (Sculpture) Moses Adebola (Diction Facilitator), Oladele Samuel Olusegun (Snr. Guest Facilitator - Drama) and others took the participants on diverse areas of creativity," artist and Founder of the gallery, Biodun Omolayo stated. "The workshop sarted from early July to the 3rd of September, 2022 when the participants had their final Exhibition in Music Performances, Drama sketches, Cultural displays and Visual Art Exhibition which took place at Omolayogallery at the Lagos City Mall Onikan Lagos."

The poems written and read by the children, included that of 

Caged Bird. by Sunmisola Ajayi (16), "Letter To Life" by Ebube Kalu (14), "The Sun"  by Damilola Shitta (12), "The Little Boy" by Tamilore Shopitan (11), My Mother by Zoe Melaye (9), My Family by Mondara Ajiboye (11), My Creative Art by Favour Oyelumade (9) and "My Daddy"  by Olive IteOluwakiishi Omolayo (12+).

One of the poems, titled Daddy, celebrated the value of father in parenting.

Who is my daddy?

He's my Body Guard!

My Unlimited Credit Card

My Mentor, a God sent.

A High fence built around me.

A seed of inspiration,

As tough as a builder,

My reset button.

He is my father!

Invited parents, guests and visitors to the event commended the efforts of the Facilitators at making the display and performances of the children a huge success.
